Fresh from a period of 'voice rest', 45305 re-enters the fray this week ahead of a summer 'Coast to Coast Tour' which now combines regular visits to Holyhead from the North West of England, with a guest spot at the North Norfolk Railway's 'Grand Steam Gala' over August Bank Holiday weekend - where the 'Five' will be performing a duet with classmate 44767.
A 'warm-up gig' has been arranged for 19/20 July with our friends at the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, following the loco's successful Christmas residence there.
Rumours of a return to LMS livery are wide of the mark but your correspondent can confirm that the loco is returning to its polished 80s roots for the tour. Following recent articles in the railway press, we may even see footage shot from aircraft as the loco stands on the coastline.
'Over seas and coast to coast', 'where the fields are green', 45305 will 'see you once again' this summer. We're looking forward to it.
