70013 Oliver Cromwell has been in main line action during the last week.
The 'Brit' moved with its support coach from Crewe to Southall following its successful outing on the 1T57 rerun on the 11th August. It went diesel hauled with the empty coaching stock from Southall to Bristol on Saturday 17th August for the Weymouth Seaside Express and hauled that charter train throughout from Bristol to Weymouth and back the next day before returning to Southall on the Monday, again diesel hauled with the empty coaching stock
Cromwell was in action again on Wednesday 21st August when it was involved with the Dorset Coast Express. This charter normally uses two engines, one out and one back, but because of a shortage of suitable locos, 70013 was called upon to work both ways. It hauled the DCE from Victoria to Weymouth and then from Southampton to Waterloo with a diesel being in charge from Weymouth to Waterloo.
Early the next day, Thursday 22nd August, 70013 and its support coach set off from Southall for Sheringham and the North Norfolk Railway, where it is due to be involved with the Gala there over the weekend of the 30th August to the 1st September.
Cromwell is due to return to Southall on Monday 2nd September and will be involved with another Dorset Coast Express on Wednesday 4th September.
The next working for 45305 is a Liverpool-Holyhead on Sunday 8th September, after which it will return to the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway and work on their service trains and October Gala.
