Three in the South West Sunshine
The Met Office have done us proud this weekend; it might be the Easter bank holiday weekend, St George’s Day and the School Holidays, but we have bright sunshine over most of the country, and to make matters even better, we (5305LA) have three engines operating today: Sir Lamiel, the NRM’s King Arthur class locomotive is busy at the West Somerset Railway for probably the last time this visit, while the NRM’s Britannia No. 70013 “Oliver Cromwell” and No. 45305 “Alderman A E Draper” have been busy today with the Great Britain IV railtour for the Railway Touring Company Bristol to Penzance via IKB’s masterpiece (the Royal Albert Bridge over the Taymar). What a way to celebrate the various special occasions this weekend.
Cromwell and the Five will be stabled for the week, and work back to Paddington next Saturday on the Royal Dutchy railtour (also for RTC), while Lamiel is expected to work tomorrow and Monday at the WSR – if you have the chance, head out there and enjoy them in the West Country Sunshine.
