I have a piece of good news to impart in this Festive Season: The NRM’s Britannia No. 70013 “Oliver Cromwell” had a successful steam test at LNWR Crewe this week, so all being well (and the weather permitting) we should soon have her back together and in traffic.
Sorry I don’t have any photos, but then again, photos of steam tests are usually of several people standing around slightly anxiously, waiting, followed by the valves lifting, the same people smiling (but not saying very much) and then going to the mess room for tea. It’s not exactly a cinematic epic.
Don’t forget that 45305 is due to work two railtours next week – on Tuesday (Kings Cross – Norwich) and Wednesday (Victoria, Dover, Canterbury, Victoria) both for Steam Dreams. Why not treat yourself to a pre-Christmas present and see if there are any tickets left. www.Steamdreams.com
If the trips are fully booked, or you just can’t make it to London, why not visit your local steam railway – particularly if your local railway is the Great Central Railway at Loughborough where the NRM’s King Arthur No. 30777 “Sir Lamiel” is currently stabled – she may be working in the run-up to Christmas on their Santa Specials so what better antidote could there be to present shopping? (www.gcrailway.co.uk) for up to date availability.
