Over the Bank Holiday Weekend a working team visited Southall to carry out repairs to 70013 after the recent problem with a mud-hole door.
As well as re-sealing the offending mud-hole door joint, the team took the opportunity to carry out a number of minor fettling tasks while they waited for the engine to make steam for the (successful) steam test.
As a result of their efforts the engine has been pronounced fit and well and is expected to work the Manchester trip (“The Palatine”) for Steam Dreams on the 9th of May.
30777 has recently been undergoing a number of fettling tasks as well and has just experienced her own successful steam test and a trip to the water column, so she also is expected to work at the weekend – at the GCR’s 40th Anniversary Gala.
