Since Friday, 70013 has been a busy loco. On Friday she left Haworth for Barnetby, then worked the Great Northern from Cleethorpes on Saturday, followed by the St David’s Day Special on Sunday and today she is on her way to Bridgenorth ready for the Severn Valley Railway’s “Festival of Steam” next weekend. (See the events page, or go to www.svr.co.uk for details)

We would like to say a big “Thank you” to Ralph Ingham and his team at Haworth for looking after Cromwell while she was at the KWVR and for their help in getting her ready for the weekend’s work.

As the movement is still underway at the time of writing, I haven’t yet had any photos or eye-witness reports of the details of the trip, but there are enough photos, you-tube clips and messages coming into 5305la headquarters for us to follow her progress in a fair amount of detail electronically. One message that came in yesterday was from Karl Buckingham CME at the G.W.S. Didcot: “Seeing. 70013 today shooting through Didcot made us all think of our trip on the same day 2006 with 5051, it made us all very envious a credit to you ALL !”

It’s interesting how often a rail tour does go past a preserved line or depot and we see the volunteers and staff come out to watch us go past, similarly when a railtour is booked through Loughborough it’s interesting how the shed empties for a few minutes as several of the volunteers ‘just pop out’ for a few minutes to see the train go through the Midland Station.
