Many people find records of mileages run, routes covered and new pieces of track inked in rather un-interesting so I give you fair warning: this news item contains facts and figures.

The "Zero" Milepost at York Station

As regular readers of our News pages will know, during 2008 5305 Locomotive Association had two locomotives out on the Main Line. Both are part of the National Collection and are in our care. As part of the record keeping for the locos we keep records of mileage worked, days in steam, repairs etc. And it occurred to me that the mileage records might be of interest to people out there who follow the fortunes of the locos in our care, so given that it is now 2009 and both of the locos have come off the “big railway” and onto preserved metals it seemed a good time to post a few figures.

No. 30777 “Sir Lamiel” worked a total of 2927.4 miles on Network Rail metals during 14 operating days since she left the Great Central Railway earlier in 2008. This figure includes shunting and turning moves (with some estimates where actual mileages are not available) as well as moves with a diesel pilot or diesel haulage. Distances are given in miles and chains.

No. 70013 “Oliver Cromwell” worked a total of 4096.62 miles during 20 operating days since she left the Great Central Railway earlier in 2008. This figure includes shunting and turning moves (with some estimated where actual mileages are not available) as well as moves with a diesel pilot or diesel haulage. Distances are given in miles and chains. The total number of operating days is 20.
