This weekend Kevin Tilbury called in at Southall to visit Sir Lamiel, not in case she was lonely, but to carry out various tests of the TPWS and other electronic equipment on the locomotive. He says that all the tests came out with the correct results, and he’s happy with the equipment. While he was there he removed the gauges for re-calibration and generally checked the locomotive over. Thanks Kevin.
Other recent 5305LA work includes more paint on the frames of 45305 – the inside of the frames is now red all over and the front has had a second coat of grey undercoat.
The support coach re-modelling is proceeding, some seats have now been installed, and more bits will be added progressively as time goes on.
The panelling inside the coach is also in the frame for re-fitting as soon as seat parts and spare insulation have been moved out of the way – it’s surprising how small a coach interior feels when the various parts aren’t in their correct places.
Mind you, the coach doesn’t feel much larger once things are back in place and a complete set of tools, equipment, mashing facilities and catering gear are in place and the coach has a full complement of support crew.
