Oliver Cromwell’s engine & tender were split at Southall yesterday and loaded onto two low loaders for the road journey to Leicestershire where 70013 is to spend the winter. The locomotive has now arrived at Quorn & Woodhouse Station Yard in good time for the Steam Railway Gala on the 10th of October and is due to be moved to Loughborough Shed later today.


The locomotive has had a successful first summer on the Main Line, beginning with the re-creation of the “Fifteen Guinea Special” on the 10th of August, followed by trips a variety of destinations including Norwich, Exeter, Canterbury and Bristol as well as two weeks on the Scarborough Spa Expresses.
