The support crew who went to Carnforth today to prepare 30777 for a trip over the S&C tomorrow received news that the trip had been cancelled. As they needed to collect the van and various pieces of equipment they made the best of the journey by spending some time fettling “Sir Lamiel”, greasing the rods (to protect against Carnforth's seemingly incessant rain), cleaning the grate and generally getting her ready for work at short notice. 30777 now stands ready at Carnforth for any work which might come her way, or to be prepared for her journey south to London in time for her booked work in the south.

Please do not stand beside the Settle & Carlisle Line tomorrow waiting for Lamiel to go past because she’s having a day off.

Edited: We have just received news that Cromwell had a "storming run" on the Liverpool Street to Norwich trip today.
