Our attention has been split two ways this week because both 30777 and 70013 were working on the main line; 70013, fresh from a storming performance on 1T57 worked engine & coach to York ready for the Scarborough Spa Expresses, which according to the support crew, have been going well. The West Coast crews who have worked the Brit are impressed, and the ones who haven’t yet been on seem keen to have a turn with her. She is due to work the Scarboroughs next week as well, so you still have a chance to ride, contact West Coast Railway Company www.westcoastrailways.co.uk for bookings.
30777 worked another Dalesman trip over the Settle & Carlisle line on Wednesday. As the West Coast drivers and firemen get used to the Arthur’s peculiarities they are beginning to coax some excellent performances out of her. On Wednesday we went over the top at Ais Gill at 57 mph and would have been around 15 minutes early into Carlisle but we had a signal check on the approach. The Arthur is booked to work next Wednesday’s Dalesman as well – bookings via Kingfisher Railtours www.kingfisherrailtours.co.uk .
