The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway is a lovely line, and the volunteers are a very friendly lot, we were made very welcome at Haworth, but it was good to get away yesterday. Yes, we’ve finally got “Sir Lamiel” to Carnforth ready for her to fly the flag for the National Collection & 5305LA at the Carnforth Open Days this weekend.
We left Haworth after lunch,
Then we set off down the branch piloting the service train.
We uncoupled at Keighley and ran onto Network Rail Metals where we were picked up by a West Coast Railways diesel locomotive which towed “Sir Lamiel” to Carnforth.
We arrived in the early evening sunshine and made a leisurely progress into the yard with plenty of stops to let shunting movements and road vehicles complete their moves before we finally came to rest outside the shed. (Although with all the shunting moves going on, I doubt that she will still be in the same spot by the weekend...) If you haven’t been to Carnforth before, it’s an amazing place and they seem to have been very busy getting it ready for the open days.
