Despite getting 70013 in steam and hauling passenger trains on the GCR in time for the big launch, unfortunately in spite of continued herculean efforts by the team there are still a number of tasks to complete before she can be approved to go out on the main line.
Therefore we have reluctantly had to accept that 70013 will not be ready in time for the planned test run, nor will she be able to carry out planned railtour commitments later this month. Rather than set an ever changing rolling programme of ‘ready tomorrow’ deadlines, the Trustees and Engineering Team of 5305LA have decided that the target date is now 1T57 on the 10th of August.
Making the decision not to try to make it for the July railtours gives the engineering team time to finalise the work and get Oliver Cromwell ready the main line test run. Everybody in the team is very disappointed that we have had to take this decision, but all felt that it is better to do the job right than to rush it.
The trips scheduled for July and early August will be affected by this change of plan. Full details of the revised programme of railtours for Cromwell will be posted on the Events page when they are available. Once the sponsors have had a chance to re-schedule them or arrange alternative motive power details will also be available on their websites.
