Well Done Team! - After a mammoth effort by all concerned, 70013 is pretty much complete. Yesterday afternoon (May 1st 2008) 70013 moved under her own steam for the first time -up and down the yard at Loughborough.
As with every locomotive restoration, there are lots of things which will need to be adjusted, tweaked and generally fine-tuned over the next few weeks - that's what testing and running in is all about, but the main job: "Getting the engine back into working order" is just about finished - the same can probably be said for the team who have worked so hard on getting to this stage.
I'm not going to list names here, because although there are several high profile people that everyone will remember as having worked on the engine, there are many many more people who have put in a lot of time and effort - not to mention all the supporters who generously provided the money which made this whole restoration possible. Credit must also go to the Restoration Project Partners who have provided the locomotive and are working away in the background to ensure that the project comes to fruition.
So big thanks to everyone who's worked on this project over the last four years - that includes someone who put in a couple of hours (and got nagged when they got home), all the way up to the people who've put in 13 and 14 hour days seven days a week for the last few months
