Great news!
The Peak's new batteries have now been fitted, charged and tested and the locomotive started on Thursday morning without anyone by the rack.
A big thank you to Mark & Allistair for their hard work helped by Neil and Andy among others in fitting the batteries, not as simple as it sounds because the batteries are designed to fit a Class 47 and have to be re-arranged to work properly in the Peak.
Last weekend I managed to take a photo of the old batteries in the snow.
The new batteries were already in the Loco, ready for charging, but not fully connected - that needed to wait until extra connecting straps were fitted and the layout changed.
Big thanks as well to those of you who have made donations towards the cost of the new batteries - your contributions really help the Association.
